Elections

Elections for this year are now officially over.

Results will be posted shortly.

Do you have a funky attitude and a certain "je ne sais quoi" needed to be part of the ISSA Executive for next year?

Are you hardworking, dedicated and willing to sell your soul to ISSA in return for pennies and the occasional free hamburger?

Then we want YOU.

A Little Bit About Us (Informal Version)

ISSA is the student association for Integrated Sciences. Not only do we plan various funky events for Integrated Sciences students throughout the year, we also open our events for the entire Science and UBC community, ie. Rogers Santa Claus Parade, and Insite Conference.

ISSA is a relatively new club (circa 6 years), but despite our 'new-ness', we are an incredibly active club compared to other clubs, hosting an average of two events every month and we hope to continue this passion and drive for the future year.

If you want to join a club where your opinion matters and you can make an incredible difference and impact, then ISSA is for you. Plus, you'll have lots of fun and special exec perks too.

How Do I Sign Up?

Our Simple 4-Step Method

1. Take a look through the various executive positions open

2. Fill out a short application form, mailed to elections@ubcissa.com by Wednesday, March 26th.

3. After your application, we will arrange for a short informational group interview.

4. Attend our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, April 2nd at 11:30am, Ladha Room 104 in order to be voted into the executive team

Note - This meeting is mandatory for all interested members.

Step 1 - Executive Positions

Secretary

Secretary is the "eyes and ears" of the exec team. Responsible for taking minutes, managing member contacts and essentially keeping everyone in line and disciplined like the Soviet Gulag.

Public Relations

Public Relations is the "voice" of the exec team, providing a link between us and members. Responsible for sending out newsletters, designing posters and classroom announcements, this is one incredible and rewarding position.

Social Coordinator

This is the "head honcho" when it comes to organizing funky exciting events for ISSA members to enjoy. This exec has the finger on the city's "fun pulse", organizing events such as our Eatery and Coppertank Socials where members dine on free appetizers and drink merrily.

Community Coordinator

The Community Coordinator brings "love" and "all around good-ness" into the exec team and the ISP community. Responsible for organizing amazing events such as "Science is Fun", Rogers Santa Claus Parade, "CANStruction" and Soup Kitchens, this is surely a "heart warming" job.

Sports

The Sports Rep uses the "power of sport" to show that Integrated Sciences can really kick some butt. This year, we placed in the finals of Day of the Longboat and Gladiator (congrats) and participated in a variety of UBC Rec events including intramural volleyball and futsal.

SUS Rep

The SUS Rep puts the "Science" into Integrated Sciences. This exec serves as the liaison between SUS and ISSA, by spewing out loads of SUS emails and other vital / non-vital information needed.

Grad Rep

The Grad Rep makes sure that we all, well, eventually graduate. This exec serves as the link between us and Artona, in addition to coordinating the end of the year Formal for all Integrated Sciences students (we better see you all there on Weds, Apr 30th)

3rd Year Rep

What does the 3rd Year Rep do? Well, from the title, the 3rd year rep should be in 3rd year. Whenever there is a promotional event where ISSA needs to attend, the 3rd Year rep serves as the important liaison between ISP, ISSA and the UBC Community.

Webmaster

The Webmaster is indeed the master, master of this website that is. With the new Web 2.0, the Webmaster manages the ubcissa.com website and updates it regularly with news, pictures and other random tidbits, but don't go too crazy now.

Note - President, Vice President (Internal and External) and Treasurer positions are open to current ISSA execs only.

President (open to current execs only)

President is everything about ISSA embodied into one person and responsible for all the "big" decisions about the club. This person takes the word "dedication" to the next level, that means being available 24/7 and taking calls even during romantic dates.

VP Internal (open to current execs only)

VP Internal is the hair gel between the strands of your hair, the gooey substance in a matrix of suspended particles and oversees all matters concerning execs and other "internal" stuff, including ultra cheesy website write-ups and budgets.

VP External (open to current execs only)

VP External gets the task of dealing with all external matters related to the club, including sponsorships, AMS and SUS. If you could imagine anything more external about this position, then that's what the VP External will do.

Treasurer (open to current execs only)

Treasurer is the Switzerland of Europe, the bank, the money gate keeper, the budgeter. This person defines the word "organized"in the dictionary. The treasurer is involved with all major administrative decisions and holds considerable power over our weekly allowances.

Step 2 - Application Form

Please fill out download this application form and email it to elections@ubcissa.com by Wed, March 26th.

Step 3 - Short Informational Interview

Ladha Science Centre on the very top floor.  There will be signs directing you where to go.

Step 4 - Attend Annual General Meeting

Tuesday, April 2nd at 11:30 - 12:30pm.
Ladha Science Centre, Room 104.

This meeting is mandatory for all interested execs, if there are problems, please contact us asap as we can be flexible.
